Eternal Spiral allows audiences to closely approach the workshop of this dream weaver whose sources span from anime and comics to Dutch Renaissance painting and silk scroll paintings. This exhibition of more than 200 works by James Jean is the first major museum exhibition in China by the acclaimed artist.

Curated by Robin Peckham, it features works by James Jean spanning a creative period of more than 20 years, with large scale paintings, sculptures, animations, prints, sketches and color studies, as well as a number of rare sketchbooks from his early years as an artist.

The exhibition covers three floors of the Modern Art Museum (MAM) Shanghai. Several of the works, including five paintings created this year, are shown for the first time. This all-encompassing look at the artist’s work gives audiences a chance to experience the depths of Jean’s seemingly unlimited imagination.
